Mount Rainier, standing at 14,411 ft is one of my two favorite Cascade mountains to hike! The other one is Mt Adams (12,286 ft), the other huge mountain in the beautiful Washington State. :) This is an amazing capture! I've never seen a shadow like this formed from a mountain. I  guess our nearby Mt Hood in Oregon is just to small or too short to make such a shadow.

the eye-poping colours and misty, serene backdrop really make this shot feel painting like the snowcap of the mountain is very detailed even from the distance of the shot! nicely done!

freaking wonderful lighting and that mist across the foreground is crazy. Maybe someday I'll cruise by this neck of the woods. Really awesome shot.

Thank you, if you like hiking the wounder land trail goes around the Mt. 90 miles. I'm hoping I'll have the time to do it next year.

We hope to do it next year, we have been slowly buying the gear and doing 10+ mile day hikes to get in shape for it.

Well we have most of it now but, a small tent, sleeping bags, stove, cloths, backpacks, pretty much anything you can think of has been on the list. We pick it up as we can and when things go on sale. We are pretty much ready except for a few small things like sleeping pads and a lighter pack for myself the military one I have is a bit heavy and kind of small for me. I'll check out that site.

From what I've heard its the Billy Goats that take everyone out. Had a marmot give me the eye about a month ago, didn't turn my back on him..

Nice job, I've seen this volcano before, it's huge! you can see it anywhere in Seattle and there's snow on it year round.

Just realized we both use the same camera! Are you experienced with it? I just got my D3100 a couple months ago and am still learning. If you get the chance, take a look at some of my recent pictures and let me know what you think :)

Thank you,

I've had the camera for about 6 or 7 months, I'm not that experienced with it but have a pretty good understanding. Now to check out some of your pictures.

Wow, is this taken from the East side of the mountian? I could never seem to find a shot this clear from the west side.
It is beautiful. The photograph is well balenced visiually and the play of colors is amazing.

I'm North East of the Mt. Puyallup, WA. I know I was pretty happy when I turned the corner and had this in my face. The only editing I did was to straighten the horizon a bit. Pretty happy with these under exposed shots but will be going through more of the others this afternoon.
